Outsourcing can be an incredible way to maximize your reach and exposure while simultaneously driving new customers, web traffic, and sales to your business.
In case you’re wondering how to make the most of this type of working relationship, I’ve included my top 5 tips to ensure you, as the business owner and leader, see an ROI and get the most from what’s sure to be an incredible working relationship.
1. Be specific on what you hope to accomplish.
In my opinion, one of the best ways to set yourself up for a successful working relationship is to be specific in the kind of result you’re hoping to achieve.
This could be as simple as naming the action you want people to take – fill out a form, click the link, make a purchase, call or message your business.
Basically, you want to discuss how you’ll measure whether or not this project and partnership is a success. This way both parties know what’s expected and are rowing in the same direction.
2. Put someone in charge of the project.
To avoid confusion and keep the project on schedule, assign one main person with the task of being the primary point of content between your business and the copywriter or marketing company you’re working with.
This person may be you, your marketing person, or another person on your team. Whoever it is — the point is that tasking one person to act as the point of contact throughout the project will eliminate situations where multiple people are sending feedback that’s not aligned for the marketing company to sort through.
By having one person filter that feedback, it will mean less time spent on your project which will save you money.
3. Clarify deliverables and scope of work
Misunderstandings arise when expectations are not clear. Marketing is such a broad topic and often in the discovery phase, it’s easy to have a ton of ideas floating around without any clear indication of what is going to be done first or how it will even look.
Your contract or written documents sent via email should clearly state the scope of work, deliverables, and time frame with both parties acknowledging their understanding.
4. Be able to and take the time to explain your business.
In order to get the best results from a copywriter or marketing company, you need to be able to convey what makes your business unique. The exact language can be co-created during our work together, but it’s important to note that if you can’t convey the essence of your business or offer, I won’t be able to effectively convey it to your audience and prospective clients.
5. Like everything else, you get what you pay for.
Yes, there are websites you can hire people willing to write copy for ten dollars, but you get what you pay for. By being open to and willing to pay for quality work, remaining clear on results and deliverables, and setting expectations from the very beginning, you’ll get the best results at a reasonable rate from our work together.
Client’s who come to me with new and exciting marketing ideas possess this energy and passion about them that’s next-level. It’s magnetic and such a beautiful place for us to ideate, create and build an action plan from.
